It's starting to feel that way to me too.
But I still don't care. Amazing to me that people get so mad at him for having an off-year after he's better, and for longer, than any pitcher the Phillies have had since Cole Hamels. And the Phillies also got a nice discount from him - that would be the thing for him to regret, that he took that security instead of reaching free agency at a younger age.
Seeing Walker miss a start with dead-arm and Lorenzen put up a stinker after his no-hitter and Suarez on the IL for the third time in 13 months only makes me think Nola is even more valuable. I don't know exactly how you fix him, where he fits in this October, or how you can be sure he will have a couple of good to great year ahead of him on the next deal vs. being in decline, but that's a risk with every free-agent pitcher.
Plus I don't mind overpaying/making a mistake on Aaron Nola, career Phillies player, vs. some other free agent. .
