The good new is this series doesn't really matter much. Wild card race remains basically status quo (especially if you'd rather have the 6th seed than the 5th) with the softer schedule (and Bryce) approaching. Mets own us regardless of this game and they'll either get past it or they won't should they meet again.

The only question it actually raises is would you rather face the Dodgers in NLDS? But I'd still say no.

Robertson was probably on a pitch or batter count. But oy.

Seems to me that whether we are first or second wild card, we still play the Braves. If we beat them, we go out west to play the Dodgers. We would see Mets in NLCS. So We do not have to worry about Mets for awhile. And even if we have to worry about them, it would be good. We would be in NLCS

I'm sure the front office (based on the reports of the minor league staff and the assistant pitching coach had their reason for Cyr). Their stats are virtually identical, and I can't say I recall Appel actually showing so much in the majors that it absolutely had to be him. Probably figure they already know what Appel is and wanted to get a look. Ideally it's neither of them by September (i.e Seranthony is back, plus Falter or Sanchez will be in the mix).

There is no re-seeding, so the Dodgers play the winner of the 4-5 series and the Mets play the winner of the 3-6 series. (Assuming the Dodgers are the top seed and the Mets don't blow the NL East).

So we go Cardinals/Mets if we're 6th. At 5th it's Braves/Dodgers. No thanks.

4th would be worth getting of course, but I doubt that's happening. Better chance the Braves catch the Mets.
