GDT 8/20/22 New York Mets (Peterson, D) @ Philadelphia Phillies (Falter)

I guess our dream of Wheeler and Nola might not be so great if we end up facing the Mets.

Of course, I have seen cases where a team dominates another team in the regular season and then loses to them in a playoff. I am still very hopeful of the Phillies reaching post season and once in, who knows how far they go? I don't see them going too far, but winning some post season games and maybe a series or even more would be a good base to build on for 2023.

Falter should be in the rotation...he's been really good lately in AAA and carried it over to one of the tougher hitting teams in the big leagues this time. Falter/Suarez/Gibson/Sydegaard is a pretty good 3-6 in the rotation. I'd go with six guys for a few weeks and try to get Nola and Wheeler strong.

Falter was fantastic.

The Mets' broadcast keyed in on efforts the coaching staff has made to help him stop from tipping his pitches, which wasn't an issue I had heard about before. Would help explain why his AAA results had been so much better than his big league. Would be a tremendous thing to see him establish himself.

Game story from the Athletic has a little news I feared yesterday. Seranthony had some tightness warming up and was unavailable. Possible couple week pause coming for him. It was really the only possible reason they had Robertson throw 2 innings yesterday.

Hopefully it is not season ending if Seranthony is gone, Could they bring up McGarry to be a late inning reliever?

They might think about it in a couple weeks. Until then it is Robertson and maybe bigger roles for Hand, Brogdon, and Knebel.

Triceps tightness...could be anything.

Not Knebel, his season is over, the just put him on the 60 day with a tear in his right shoulder capsule.

Hadn't caught up on the game thread yet, I posted in the general thread. They called up Cyr from AAA (presumably taking Knebel's spot).

I think Falter will end up getting his starts without them going to a six-man rotation. Already another double-header scheduled, rainout always possible, and who knows what the stretch run might require. Only question really is if he becomes a 9/1 call-up or if they keep him on turn in AAA. But if Seranthony is on the IL longer than that they probably need the extra reliever more.

I bet it is very unusual to use a backup catcher as a PR for a DH
