Oakland's a great city. She'd love it now.
But yes, Davis was already marginal entering this season. He's lasted this long because he's a lefty, and might have benefited from one more half-season in AAA, but he never really progressed beyond his short period of early MLB success.
The problem is over the past two season they've cycled through Ramos, Rios, Austin Davis, J.D. Hammer, De Los Santos and Edgar Garcia without getting one even one Arano or Seranthony (and now both those guys are hurt). Arms with upside may be better than washed-up AAAA guys but in the short-term - which is all there is in 2020, at least until the playoffs are out of reach - one is not more likely than the other to get outs, and experience - especially the experience to shake off a bad game - helps.
