A very exciting finish and improbable come back for the walk off win.
We had family in tonight so after watching a couple early innings, I was away from the game for awhile. I returned to the big screen with two grandsons for the 8th inning. Very disappointed to end the 8th with Hoskins out at the plate and really didn't have much hope for a win going to the bottom of the 9th down 5-1.
When Hernandez reached on the error, one grandson said that's how they win this game. Then a string of hitters behind in the count but coming through. Four in a row to bring up Haprer with the bases loaded. He quickly fell behind in the count as well. With each hit and then the HBP, it almost seemed that the comeback was inevitable. The Harper blast was almost more than I dared hope for in this game.
This sweep of the Cubs and the resurgence of the offense gives me much hope for the remaining season. At least it should be fun. Harper sure does add to the enthusiasm of this team. What a way to win tonight. While Smyly was not great in the start and fell behind 5-0, the bullpen (Nicasio and Suarez) putting up four scoreless innings made the comeback possible.
Let's build on this momentum.
