The Reds and Dodgers are good. The Nats and Mets (and Pirates, a team we didn't even beat) are not. This was never going to be a team that opened up a big lead, the goal is to just stay above the line until the sked gets relatively soft in late August and trust the Mets and Braves aren't better (and have a tougher schedule).
Stinks to lose the first one tonight as it's now that much tougher salvage a .500 homestand but that was probably the ceiling. And for the next six as well: take the series in AZ and probably lose the one in San Diego).
On the bright side, rain and injuries have been part of the struggles. Harder to overcome extra issues against the better time. Thank goodness Kennedy was able to overcome bad umpiring yesterday.
