Kudos to Stott for a great game (3 for 4 plus HBP) and Bohm (2 RBIs).

Cannot say enough about the start by Suarez tonight. Seven innings, only one run, 3 hits. The bullpen posts 3 shutout innings. Alvarado, Dominguez, and Robertson, with the save in the ghost runner tenth.

Also credit to Verling for the throw in the top of the tenth to get the fly out, out at the plate double play.

Phillies had many chances to score early on against Scherzer, but only got the one run early in the first inning. Probably better to get many hits and runners than to be shut down completely.

A great win in New York.

Nice to get this win on National TV (Apple TV). Should help non-Phillies fans see that the Phillies are playing well and are in contention for the post season.

Interestingly, the Met announcers who did this broadcast make a couple comments about strikes being called on Mets hitters, including Naquin in the tenth. They did not comment when several strikes were called against Phillies' hitters on similar pitches just off the strike zone.

No, but they did make a big deal of how good the Phillies defense was and mentioned the Keith Hernandez comments.

I agree with LSP, Vierling won this game with his throw to the plate, So now we've beaten Alcantara and Scherzer. Fortune comes in threes, right? .

Does Schwarber even make that catch, let alone the throw? Vierling was pretty well-positioned and maybe didn't even judge it perfectly but recognized where he needed to be quickly.

What an interesting twist !!! Vierling did not hit like Schwarber but he made the pivotal defensive play that saved the game.

Maybe I just assumed they were Met announcers. They sounded like they were from New York.

I enjoy listening to the Phillies broadcast team. I didn't think Apple would have their own announcers, I was thinking this was the Mets' broadcast team since I knew it wasn't the Phillies' crew.

One of them was Cliff Floyd but he'll always be an Expo to me.

Last week we got Hunter Pence.

As you noted, it's National TV (such as it is), of course they have their own announcers. Only network that picks up local feeds is MLB. Peacock has had Kruk on as a guest but they still have their own production.

This is my first time watching an Apple TV baseball broadcast.

Yes, they do have their own everything. I just didn't pay attention to Apple TV baseball since I almost always use the MLB feed from the Phillies when I watch the game. I watch slightly more than half the games live and follow most of the others via Gameday while doing something else. The last time the Phillies were on Apple, I just followed the game on Gameday and the GDT on this site.

The Apple announcers were OK. The telecast does look pretty though the pitch by pitch betting updates are really annoying to me. At least those graphics are not intrusive. They definitely pitch the telecast towards more casual fans, so not necessarily my favorite compared to most other network telecasts.

And you can't pause it. Just seems odd on a streaming service.

I pause NBC Sports broadcasts on YT TV all the time but can you pause national sports broadcasts (on ESPN and such)?

I think it's kind of funny that they pitch it towards casual fans because I assume a large majority of the audience are fans of the two teams using the service for the first time. I can't say I've thought to put on any other of their games except on the nights I was already watching the Phillies.

Also if it's meant to bring in a bunch of new people I'm not sure promoting Season 3 of For All Mankind with a ton of stuff that basically spoils Season 1-2 (I still haven't caught up) is a good strategy.
