Arrieta is going to be shut down in a few weeks, each start he goes fewer pitches before he loses his stuff, this game it was about 60 pitches. If I were an opposing manager, I'd fine any player who swings at the first pitch, because I want to drive his pitch count up early, then attack him second time through the lineup.
Suarez was really impressive, 3 hits (and the error should be changed to a hit) but all on broken bats, he has three pitches, 92-94 FB, both 2 and 4 seamer, solid slider, good changeup. Doesn't turn 24 until late August. Has been a SP until he hit the majors, which is why I see him possibly starting next year, has the mix of pitches to make it work. This year is a learning experience for him. Solid build so he won't add velocity, but should build stamina the next couple years as he matures.
Roman Quinn looked good, opposite field HR as a RH, then tough AB as a LH, finishing with the walk. If he could stay healthy and learn to hit on the job (really belongs in AAA ball but that's not an option), we'd have a fine defensive OF with Quinn in CF and Haseley in LF, at worse, that's our defensive substitution. And that would free Kingery to replace Franco at 3B, who looks pitiful at the plate.
