Numerous good games from Phillie players tonight. In addition to the young players, we can't forget that the veteran starter, Jake Arrieta, pitched a great game in a difficult ballpark against the best team in MLB this season. Seven strong innings, one run on six hits, no walks, and 7 strikeouts. He gest the win and is now 9-6. He has been an outstanding addition to the young starting rotation. Last night, Nola dominated the Red Sox in his start, but unfortunately, the offense just could not score the needed run and the went on to lose in 13 innings.
The bullpen puts up 2 scoreless innings to preserve the win for Arrieta. Hunter pitched a strong hitless, walkless 8th and Dominguez the ninth, where he started with a walk and a HBP before shutting down the next 3 batters to earn the save.
The offense produced 3 runs on ten hits. Good games from Quinn (3 for 5, double), Hoskins (1 for 3, double, 2 walks), Santana (2 for 5), Franco (2 for 3, 2 walks), and Alfaro (1 for 3, double).
Record goes to 59-48.
Washington beat the Mets, 25-4, and Atlanta is leading Miami, so the standings will not change. The Phillies maintain their slim lead in the NL East.
The 2018 Phillies continue to excite us and these two games in Boston showed that they can play with the best.
