I am not saying I have faith, or that they really should buy. But I also don't think you react to any one series or 10-game stretch.
Dombrowski said maybe they would bail if the Phillies lost seven games and the Mets won seven games. Well, over their last two series, the Mets went 4-4 and the Phillies went 3-5 (assuming this one holds). Braves went 5-4.
Just saying they are the same very average team they've always been. But so are the other East teams (and they aren't more fun to watch either).
I guess the question is should you make your decision based on the W-L column or the GB column? The Reds and Yankees are being more aggressive with better records but less of a chance (well, Yankees can get a wild card).
To bail when you're not actually out of it takes a forward-thinking owner and President. So does going for it big. So of course we get neither.
The good news is we still can't face an NL West team in the NLDS.
