Definitely a game we needed. I hate seeing starting pitchers go that deep into games, but you can’t argue with success. Another win tomorrow would be great to get the roll started.

I get to say ITYS, pointed out Phillips in ST, he was throwing 95, a couple miles faster than last season, his second year after TJ surgery.

To be honest, I don't think he's this good, although Cleveland's a pretty good hitting team.

The thing to watch is his change up, didin't throw it most of the game but threw a couple nice ones in the 9th - master that pitch and he's a legitimate ML starter. Has a good sinker and hammer curve, but needs the change against LH hitters.

But for a hometown kid to throw a 4 hit shutout at CBP in front of a sellout crowd, only way he's gonna top this is to win a PO game or two at home!

50 in 138 games. He played 1202 games at the vet. Had he played 1202 games at wrigley at the same pace as the 50 in 138, he would have hit 435 at Wrigley.

He hit 264 in all other ballparks besides Wrigley and the Vet. If he had been a cub he probably would have hit around 30 against the philies.. so 435+30+265. Comes to 729.

Hitting 729 in the time he played (where hitting 38 often lead the league) would have made him in the argument for greatest player ever. He most likely would have been near a 200 OPS+.

It would have been crazy. He most likely would have had seasons in the 55-60 HR area when 2nd place would have been 20 behind him. That is (almost) Ruthian.

Annnd.. if he was that close.. he probably would have stayed around to go for Aaron.

Annnnnnd playing on the natural grass of Wrigley vs the concrete of the vet would have kept his legs fresher longer.
