Truly an impressive win today and a great series win over a solid veteran team. The only loss coming on the opening game, which was a contested game with the Phillies fighting them down to the final out. The 16 inning win was another great game and a great win for the Phillies on the improbably walk off home run in the 16th. Today, the Phillies took charge in the 5th and rolled on to win.
Phillies out score the Dodgers 20-14 over the series. The Phillies were far from perfect, but they didn't quit and played with enthusiasm. The bullpen did a pretty good job over the series. I think Morgan has been pretty good of late and Garcia looked pretty good last night as well. I would have left Morgan pitch to at least one more batter in the 8th (he was replaced with two out, runner on first). Dominguez was not as sharp as he has often been, but he got the job done in the 8th and 9th to earn the save.
Kapler has done a great job this season. Of course, I don't agree with all his moves, but I think he is thinking and he has reasons for what he does. Heck, I wouldn't agree with all my moves if I were the manager.
Phillies head off to Cincinnati to four games. Realistically, a 2-2 split would be fine. Of course, I want to win all four.
Record now 57-44.
Final weekend prior to the trade deadline. Will we see something happen this weekend?
