Kingery making Valentin and Walding look like experienced ML hitters. They know enough not to swing at a pitch high and way outside. Evidently Scott can't hold back on those.

Well that's how they can't score. Three Ks swinging after loading the bases with no out. Regardless of the outcome here, and I sure hope the Phillies win, that performance has to make me fear for what is coming for this team. Okay, maybe I'm over reacting, but those were just terrible at bats. At least Knapp didn't swing at a ball that was not even close to the strike zone.

Outstanding start from Velasquez followed by outstanding relief from Neshek, Morgan, and Dominguez.

Herrera home run gave Phillies lead in the 4th. RBI single from Santana and 3 run homer from Hoskins put it away in the 7th. Makes the frustrations of runners stranded less painful, but 3 Ks on ten pitches after loading the bases is tough to watch.

Not sure about the last pitching change. I hope I didn't miss something happening with Morgan. He has been pitching well of late and he did have a strong second half last season.

I assume the last pitching change was just to get Seranthony into a game. I was somewhat surprised he didn't start the 9th. I imagine he has been throwing on the side since he hasn't been in a game in a week.

Phillies now 55-43, back to 12 over .500. Phillies won their 55th game on September 12th last season.

Another series win. Bring on the Dodgers. I hope we can take 2 from them. It will be a good test.

Atlanta now 53-43, one game behind the Phillies. Nationals 49-49, 6 games behind the Phillies.

Dodgers playing perfect .66666666666 baseball in June and July, and most of that was before Machado. A good test indeed. We did get the 2-2 split at Chavez.

(Edit: that was before their win today too, they spanked Milwaukee, took that series in Milwaukee).

Yup, it would be nice if we could actually keep pace for a potential playoff series. But between the slow start and the new shortstop they are a different team two times over now.
