Today, the Phillies beat themselves. Pathetic performances on Friday and today. Failure to catch a fly ball in the outfield played the key in both wins for the Nationals. A very disappointing series. I am sure the players realize they had chances to win both Friday and today. I am hoping for some good games in Tampa Bay. If they can take the series in St. Petersburg and Miami, we can go into the all star break on an up swing.
Games like this are hard to take, but every team loses some games and yes, even play badly and beat themselves. Suarez was not sharp and did not pitch well after Marsh failed to catch the fly ball in center field in the third inning. The bullpen did okay but the game was lost by the time they got the call.
