That's too bad. Really DeGrom won the game for them by going 8. Monday's still the one they should have had.

4-3 road trip with four to go, seven wins would be nice given the level of opposition.

Nimmo is a rising star.

Can't expect your bullpen to throw scoreless innings forever when your offense can't score a single run.

Boneheaded base running by Knapp cost us our chance in the top of the 10th.

Every team loses games like this but that doesn't make me happy. Two walk off loses to Mets' home runs in the series. The Mets are not a good team, but deGrom is a great pitcher. Phillies split the series and move on to the one game in Baltimore and then the three games in Miami. I hope we can win 3 of the 4 going into the break.

Positives tonight have to be the pitching, which shut out the Mets for 9 innings holding them to 2 hits. Very positive to see Velasquez come back from the DL and pitch a strong 6 innings. I thought Leiter got the strikeout on Reyes but those check swings have always mystified me. I have seen less called a strike. Still, Reyes is hitting .168 and should never have been walked. Missing on 3 fast balls and starting off the count in the hole 2-0 cost Leiter in the end.

Record is now 51-40.

I'm thinking the week off helped Velasquez, he's not used to pitching this many innings so the rest (and the All star break) may set him up for a stronger finish than if he had kept pitching every five days - looked very sharp.

Neshak gets back into a groove and Garcia comes back 100%, we have a pretty deep bullpen for the stretch run.

A few years ago Hernandez was driving us crazy with his seemingly "lost" play at times. This year that player is Andrew Knapp.

The last time they started him he didnt seem to know what to do when he bunted a ball and bunted it right to the pitcher, messing up an inning. This time he goes for jog around 2nd base for no reason whatsoever on an infield grounder and ends an inning. We lose the game in the bottom of that inning. He seemed genuinely surprised that he wouldnt be able to go from 1st to 3rd on an infield hit.

Hernandez got better and is now one of our "smartest" players. Knapp really needs to get his head out of ... This isnt WAR, this is a guy do things to actually lose games.

Yeah, coming out with a split of this Mets series does feel like a big missed opportunity. Now, these upcoming four games have a little bit of a "must-win" feel, lest we go into the break with a tad bit of a bad vibe.

How long is a player considered young? What Knapp did last night I would expect a high school or younger aged player to know shouldn't be tried.

Someone who doesn't even have a full season's worth of PAs is still basically a rookie to me. And far more veteran players than Knapp commit even dumber errors (like forgetting how many outs there are). Stuff happens. He thought there was going to be a throw to first right?
