And yet, they hadn't lost a series in ages (possibly all year?) until this trip and they'd just bested both Milwaukee and St. Louis. The injuries and suspension are definitely coming at a bad time and the rest of June could be a challenge, but if they can get some guys back (Eflin, Quinn, Hunter, hopefully Morgan) while others are still out they will be okay.

The trade market is going to be early this year too, since no one can do deals in August. So if it does look bad - if Cutch is out a long time or Robertson isn't coming back - Klentak will get active against soon.

Record on this road trip goes to 0-4, and the losing streak goes to 5.

Certainly expect that they will hit bumps like this during a long season. I guess if I hadn't just lived through a very unexpected collapse last season, I would be less concerned now. There is no doubt that the loss of the very large number of players expected to be major contributors this season does hurt the team.

I am still confident that they will bounce back and right the ship. I hope it starts with a win tomorrow and another on Wednesday. Just five games ago, things were looking very upbeat and I have seen some good things happen for the Phillies in these five games just lost.

This year's not last year. I mean, let's not kid ourselves. We're not as good as the Dodgers (a team we went 4-3 against last year). We're not as good as the top AL teams (but we beat Minnesota already). A lot of baseball left, and a lot of players to come who aren't currently on the roster (including the 40). And some luck will be required in October even in the best case.

While I don't want to reduce a serious crime/issue to a baseball thing, imagine if Odubel was actually good.

I have no doubt this team is better this season than last season.

Nola clearly is not pitching as well as last season but seemed to be doing better of late. In fact, tonight he had his ERA under 4.00 for a brief time. Sadly, he ended the game back at 4.63 for the year so far and it will take several good games to get it back down below 4.00.

If McCutchen goes on the IL as seems likely, Haseley likely will get some starts in centerfield. Right now, he will be the best fielding centerfielder on the team. He jumped to AAA and hit around .320 in his short time there.

They remain in first place by a half game as the Braves were off today.
