Really back to back games with very little offense where the Phillies took a one run lead into the bottom of the last regular inning. Three outs without a run and it’s a 1-0 win for the Phillies. Both times the Phillies let the Mets score. Both times on an unearned run. Fielding is important. Fielding matters in the W-L record. The Phillies should have won two. Ends up they are lucky to win one.
Certainly good to win this second game. Outstanding to hold the Mets to no earned runs in a doubleheader, both extra innings.
Bad to blow saves in last inning of regulation play in both games. Bad to have an error lead to each of the blown saves. Bad to have six hits total in the double header. Very bad to have shoddy play in the field yet again. All this comes after blowing leads of 5, 4, and 1 in the final game with the Nationals Wednesday night to lose 13-12.
They need to play better. They have repeatedly lost games that a good team wins most nights.
