I think your argument could also be extended to just keeping Hernandez as lead-off hitter and the same batting order in the first place though. Then the only change would really be hitting Realmuto 6th instead of 5th (or just hit Bruce 5th), leave Kingery where he's already been successful, and the weaker-hitting bench guy (Quinn or Rodriguez or Miller) takes Franco's 8 spot.
But, Hernandez really stunk, and moving him away seems to have been the right call. And except for the fact that the top of the order gets the most ABs this regime is unlikely to believe in batting order, or having the same line-up every day. But, when there was actually a good line-up, suddenly they did!
