You're correct about Cozens and Arano - and the roster's only at 39 now (pending Bruce), so they don't need to (and cannot, under the rules) move either Cozens or Arano to the 60-day at this time.
Take it FWIW but Gabe said the pre-game plan was to pitch Velasquez and he'd told Young he was ready to pitch today. Not that you should always listen to your players.
But he made a bad pitch, I don't think we can definitively say the error - be it mental or physical - was due to him pitching two days in a row. What he has to get used to, of course, is the fact that one mistake is not an option the way it is as a starter.
Pivetta's performance has to be encouraging. He pitched today the way I hoped he would pitch to start the season. If (and it is certainly and IF) he can put up a string of starts almost as good as today, it will be a huge positive for the team.
Pivetta's start was encouraging, really disappointing is the offense. Once again, the offense is completely anemic - especially on the road. It generates too few HR, and is completely inconsistent.
