Phillies win, 2-1, in ten innings. Great to come back to win after not being able to get the last out to win in nine. Very sad that Nola's great game does not earn him the win, but the Phillies get the win eventually.

I am disappointed with the Phillies not being able to score another run or more in the tenth after taking the lead and loading the bases with no outs. Castellanos, Realmuto, and Herrera all made outs that failed to get the run home.

But I really should not be complaining after a win. Phillies take the first four in Washington and go for a 5 game series sweep tomorrow.

Memo to self: Relax and enjoy!

Nola has now thrown at least 7 innings while giving up 2 or fewer runs in 7 of his 14 starts this season. The Phillies have actually lost 3 of those 7 starts, and Nola has only gotten the W in 2 of those 7 starts.

To see the offense flounder today is really frustrating. Does the lack of Harper in the lineup make such a difference? All the other big guns were dead today.

It was not just the absence of Harper. It was the absence of both Hoskins and Harper. I would like to know what was going on that Thomson sat both players for this game. That completely disrupted he flow of the lineup.

Harper was out with an infected blister that required antibiotics. And Thomson felt it was time for Rhys to have a day off.

Well Thomson can thank his lucky stars that Nola came up so big for him and shut Nats down. I think it was a serious error for Thomson to decide to give Hoskins a “rest” on the same day that Harper was out of the lineup. Indeed, it was Hoskins who, as a pinch hitter like Bryce the day before, drove in the winning run.

Seems to me that the team is being carried by Schwarber, Hoskins and Harper. It is asking for trouble to take two of them out of the lineup for the same game.

I would guess that Thomson had decided to rest Hoskins on a day when Nola was pitching and less offense would be needed

Haroer is out again. He has an infection and could be out a few days. Should Hoskins not be allowed a day off? Just want to run him into the ground until hes in a deep slump?

If it hadn't been yesterday it would have been today (or the second game of the doubleheader Friday). And the Nats stink so it's the right time to grab a day; he might not get one in the next batch of games.

He was talking about in general based on the last start, though it's fair (and worrisome) to assume it's still bothering him, rather than it just being an early hook for struggling.

Need one of those 7-run games from the offense.
