Good thing they saved all those relievers by using Soto and Ruiz in yesterday's winnable game.
I think where the Phillies got screwed was having a West Coast trip (including Denver at altitude) so close to the London trip. And it was a bit unlucky to be facing two of the better teams on the schedule, including the best one to date.
Not sure it matters that they were on the road afterwards though, if their disrupted minds and bodies were going to stink for six games may as well do it on the road. Had they been home and gone 3-3 that would have been worse than this.
Yup, flush it. Take the next two series at home against two good but still sub-.500 teams. Starting pitchers need to show they're back in rhythm even more than the hitters.
Pretty sure this eight-game lead is still, y'know, better than every day of every Phillies season for the previous two years (and the ten before that as well).
