Well, here's where we really disagree. I think if you are right, you can only do so much. You don't bust the tax or strip the farm to replace three $6-10 million relievers, especially when you already need a starter, and probably a position player too (either a CF, 3B or a very strong bench guy). And you especially don't do it before July 15 if they can actually come back and pitch, and show you where they are at.
I'm not nearly as pessimistic. I think Hunter could come back strong from being rested. He's not that old. Robertson has almost never been hurt so that's a tough one, is this a bump or a lost year? I don't know. Neshek's injury is apparently not that bad but he could certainly be at the end.
Obviously they have to add one or two guys no matter what, especially with Seranthony and Arano out too. But it doesn't have to be tomorrow.
You can't run a sustainable franchise panicking and making short-term moves, even with the sunk costs they've put into this season. If they lose the NL East because Nola's average, McCutchen is hurt and three of the top four relievers are a lost cause, you lose the NL East. But the standings say they are still on pace to win almost 91 games.
