This game illustrated the problem with Nola, he has the smallest margin of error of the top 4 starters.
Wheeler has the best stuff, followed by Sanchez.
Suarez has the most deception, so he gets away with more mistakes than Nola.

When Nola doesn't have his command, he's dead meat, he can't throw it past hitters and lacks the deception to get away with mistakes. Which is why it's important to "baby" him going into the playoffs, he needs to be both rested but also on a regular schedule so he's primed for each start.

Well he just pitched this game on 9 days rest and stunk so maybe try another theory. It was just a bad game, every pitcher - every ace- has one or two of them. Granted, last year he was not as good.

I don't think Suarez has less margin of error at all compared to Nola. He's just pitching better and his command is off the charts good. Of course Nola needs his command. But we all knew that he kind of had the stuff of a reliable 3rd starter. His command over the decade has taken him much further.
