Garcia didn't get anybody out. Four hits ended up producing 3 runs.

I don't fault Kapler for using Garcia in the ninth with the four run lead. I truly expected that he could get the 3 outs to put the game away. Very disappointing. More and more looking like they will be changing out one or two from the bullpen soon, although I don't know what I would do if it were my call.

I think we are starting to see what a heavily used Seranthony looks like. Probably need to back away a bit from 2-inning outings or only do them after minimum 2 days rest. He got lucky on a few hangers last night. Velocity was there. Command (and potentially the spin on his slider) were not quite what they had been.

Sorry to state the obvious but unless he blows a gasket, Nola should be an all-star. He may end up being their lone representative though Herrera and Arrieta still have a shot.

There are options but no more Seranthonys. Rios is streaky but if the velocity is maintained, he'll be back. And Thompson of course is still learning to be more of a power arm out of the bullpen.

If there is a new face I think we might see one of the lefties either replace or supplement Morgan. This would not be Curtis. Tom Windle is inconsistent but has been much better this season. And Austin Davis could be another power arm (mid 90s) from the left side. With an open spot on the 40 one of these guys might join the bullpen rotation at some point.

I was at the game last night. A few observations.....where are the fans? The Park was empty and very quiet. Walking through the parking lot I had a guy stop me and ask if its always this way. He said he and his Dad are touring some stadiums and had seen the subway series over the weekend and this was like nothing compared to that. I didn't focus on the game completely as my wife and daughter was with me and we walked around watching as we walked for parts of it...love buying standing room only seats after a 5 hour car ride.
Game questions I am sure many asked these questions... I wouldn't have pulled Nola after he stuck out the last batter he faced and now there were 2 outs. Why double switch if you are only going to allow the new relief pitcher to get 1 out and go to the pen again. (Surprisingly it may have won the game as it then forced Valentine to pinch hit in the 8th inning.) Did the Rockies runner have a chance to tag and get to third on the SF to Hoskins with 0 outs in the 9th? I am glad he didn't as he would have scored on Backmond's liner. Seranthony did what he needed to do to get the save!
