In other words, the kind of ERA you have if you consistently make a "quality start."

In this age of specialized bullpens that always-flawed stat is even less useful. But what he did tonight speaks for itself on paper (i.e, 1 run allowed, leaves as the winning pitcher of record). I'd say he's exceeded a lot of expectations thus far when all he had do was exceed Matt Moore. Doesn't mean the rotation is settled but it is certainly settled down.
