I mean, Nicasio was supposed to be the 7th or 8th-best reliever to begin with, despite his late-inning salary. But no Arano (then or now), no Hunter, no Robertson, and suddenly he (and Ramos) are in meaningful games. There wasn't even supposed to be room for a mop-up guy (the Anderson/De Los Santos spot), Arano was supposed to have that sole optionable spot, but now that they have injuries they have more of them.
Supposedly he had great peripherals last year but I still think the Phillies just took him because it made the Santana money work. Fungible is fungible, if you can afford it.
