Velasquez gives them a decent start. Certainly taking a no hitter into the fifth and only giving up one hit over the 5 innings will be welcomed anytime. I hope he can cut down on the walks, but he managed to let them hurt him. The bullpen also walked too many, but again, managed to get the job done. Win for Velasquez and save for Neris. Somehow I will never like seeing the closer walk two in the ninth, but I guess alls well that ends well. I certainly don't want to complain about pitching on a night the only give up one run on two hits.
Hoskins gave them enough to win today on his first at bat with the 2 run homer. He had a good night, 1 for 3 with 2 walks. The third run on Santana's triple and Franco's single added a little cushion. The Phillies had chances for more runs, but were unable to get the key hit. Hated seeing 2 walks to start the ninth and latter a single, but no runs.
Phillies back to 4 over at 18-14. Now 2-3 on the road trip with a chance to even it with a series win tomorrow in DC.
