Except that's not how these things work. In that alternate reality the Phillies take a 1-0 lead but the Rangers might have loaded the bases in the 9th and hit a grand slam. Or at least tied it up.
Alternately, maybe Matt Moore somehow pitches completely differently trailing 1-0 than in a 0-0 game and the Phillies blow it open!
I still don't know how, in the moment, a fan is supposed to be able to not interfere. It is a split-second, reactive decision. By the time your brain might think, I might be interfering, I shouldn't try to catch this, it's already happened. Even when it looks obvious that they are reaching on a TV replay I don't think it would be obvious if we were sitting there.
In any case, these little things are part of the game and tend to balance out over 162. And only scoring 1 run in 9 innings is gonna be a loss most nights too.
