Coonrod saves the Phillies bacon tonight.

First back to back wins since the fourth game of the season.

Phillies back to .500 but kept us on the edge of our seats by almost blowing the five run lead. Glad they were able to hold on and get a win for Nola.

No excuse for the screwup on the lineup card. They are already playing short handed so not getting de los Santos on eligible tonight hurt.

But they win and that is the bottom line.

Back in first place with our .500 record and -15 RD. Funny thing is that the only team in the NL East with a positive RD is the last place Marlins at +10. Obviously SSS but still interesting.

Hey, for all we know, de los Santos would have blown the game! Maybe we dodged a bullet.

More roster moves tomorrow for sure. I can't imagine if Quinn and Harper are both out that they don't bring someone back (Moniak, I guess). And another pitcher (maybe replacing Hale?).

That's why I still think the offense is the real problem, though it wasn't their fault tonight. But that is not a sustainable # of one-run games.

De Los Santos was only coming in because it was a five-run lead, so it's true, he could have messed it up just as easily. But process>outcome and nobody can defend that process.

Of course there is a substantial chance that De Los Santos would have given up some runs but Hale faced 3 and gave up 3 runs in 0 IP. Hard to be worse than that.

It was odd they did not keep the 2nd lefty for the last day of Alvarado's suspension. Maybe they knew Yelich was going back on the IL, but still it is nice to have two. I guess they might have figured Sanchez has not done a lot of short outings either, so you could always use Moore in that situation too.
