Nice move by Thomson not letting them torch Nola. He needs to be limited to twice through the lineup.

Nola's best BA and OPS has been 3rd time through the order this season

I fear this is more of a SSS item. Just tonight’s 1 HR will impact the stats (to a degree).

I don’t think there are many (any?) pitchers any longer that are better the 3rd time through. Some have less impact, but my guess is that Nola is one of those guys that gets tired and gets more hittable the more you see of him.

I don’t have access to easy data from my current location to see if that is proven by numbers over the last few years.

Best I've seen Hoffman in a little while. Not that he has pitched poorly at any point this year, but this was last year's fastball tonight touching 99 to go with the other stuff.

Hoffman looked like a closer tonight. But Alvarado also had a strong 8th. Bullpen got it done to give a win to Nola. Cards held to 3 hits.

Great start to the series and this home stand.

Braves beat Oakland, but they did lose to Washington last night.
