The only complaint I have about todays game was Kap keeping Eickhoff in for the 7th inning. At the same time though he had been pitching ok, didn't have a huge pitch count and I understand Kapler is working with a limited pen ahead of a tough West Coast series so it makes sense that he would try to get as much as he could out of his starter.

Eickhoff had a quality start but lost it in the seventh. Solid six innings in spite of the two homer runs. I can understand trying to get another inning. It just didn’t work.

I had to follow this afternoon on game day on my phone. Didn’t see Hernandez line drive DP but saw it was around 104 mph off the bat. Bad break but he had a couple other chances as well to drive in runs. Couldn’t cash in. Harper and Hoskins both on base three times but bottom of the order not producing again today.

Phillies win series. I’d have loved to get the third win before going west but reasonable to take series 2 games to one. Let’s win both series on the coast.

Hernandez hit the ball very hard in the 6th, it just happened to be a line drive right at the SS.

Eickhoff pitched well for the most part, but has struggled with his breaking balls the last two games, leaving curves and sliders up in the zone, and most of his HRs are coming off those pitches. This may just be a mechanics thing, at times he had that killer curve working and he spotted his FB well.

If he can get his breaking balls down in the K-zone he can be a key pitcher going forward, his ability to pitch to contact and keep his pitch count down allows him to eat innings as long as he doesn't throw too many lollipops.

Will be fun to see how they measure up against the Dodgers but we could also get swept. They are 21-7 at home. However it goes I will settle for a .500 road trip.

Road trips to California have always been difficult but as noted, if you want to play in October, you have to be able to go up against the best and hold your own. A good test.

I hope Harper and Hoskins can keep their hitting up. Harper was 8 for 12 with 7 RBIs, 5 doubles, and a home run in this series. Hoskins was 5 for 10 with one RBI, a double, and two walks.
