A pretty ugly loss in a game they really needed to win.
Giving the Rangers 6 outs in the 6th inning greatly aided their scoring the 3 runs to take the lead. Bohm had an error with no outs on a double play ball and the Rangers got the final run on the infield hit where he double clutched before the throw, allowing the runner to reach first safely.
On offense, not scoring after putting runners on second and third with no outs in the 7th pretty much iced the Phillies' fate.
Bohm, Realmuto, Gregorius, and Vierling all had 2 hits tonight. Of course, Herrera pinch hitting for Vierling strikes out in the bottom of the ninth. I thought Herrera should have started against Gray, but after Vierling had the pair of hits, I would have left him bat. Quinn popping up two bunts for easy outs is not a good sign for him. If he is going to be on the team, he needs to make those bunts in a way to give him a shot with his speed.
The nice thing about baseball is that another game is tomorrow. Chance to redeem and feel good with a win. Still, they cannot get this loss back and this is another series they cannot win.
