Good seeing the Phillies come back to win after blowing the lead in the 8th. Phillies should have won 3 of the 4 but lucky to not end up losing 3 of 4. The IBB to Joyce may have cost the Marlins the game. Based on his play to date this year, he probably outcome in the at bat was a strikeout.
Kudos to Herrera today for his double and triple, both ending up with him scoring key runs. Hoskins with another HR was the remainder of the offense. Really missing JT, Harper, and Dedi in the lineup.
Fielding is flat out bad. Not much chance to fix this season, but I hope they will make defense a consideration in any moves made this coming off season.
Pitching seems to be a strength in spite of too many bullpen failures and disappointing performances from Moore in a starting role. I really feel better about the bullpen this season than last. I think Alvarado has the potential to be an outstanding reliever but has to cut out the walks. Too often, our relievers get ahead in the count and then stop throwing strikes. The Marlins hitters just didn't strike out on pitches out of the zone nearly as often as the Phillies did in this series. In spite of 2 strikeouts in the 9th, the Phillies only struck out 7 times today, an improvement over the usual double digit numbers our hitters put up most games.
