Great job by the bullpen in a game that I thought was going to get away from the Phillies based on the early innings. Looks like VV followed JT’s lead tonight.

I was doing updates from my phone while watching on TV thru Roku.

Hoskins 2 for 4 with home run and a walk. Harper with double and 2 RBIs. Kingery 2 for 4 with a double and McCutchen 2 for 5 with two doubles. Phillies 11 hits included 5 doubles and the one home run.

Velasquez started out shaky then settled in, it was almost like as a RP he didn't have to think, just rear back and throw for a couple innings.
We'll see, but he may be better suited for that role.

Eickhoff joined the string of pitchers known for their command who couldn't hit the side of a barn.
He was throwing pitches down the middle of the plate waist high, got lucky the first couple teams, then got caught.
Weird, no one can pitch anymore.
Probably one of those SSS samples to be followed by two weeks where they can't miss a corner.

Velasquez started off with a walk and then got a bad break on the single by Braun. Braun hit the ball right where Kingery was playing but Kingery was moving to cover second with Yelich running (full count pitch). This put Velasquez in a jamb with runners first and third and no outs. He struck the next two out and then they had that somewhat strange play where Yelich was out at the plate when Braun tried to steal second (2-6-2). His second inning was a solid 1-2-3 inning.
