The Phillies offense went into a prolonged and profound funk in late May and June of that season. The Halladay perfect game came in that stretch and the Phillies only won that one 1-0. The funk ultimately cost hitting coach Milt Thompson his job (replaced by Greg Gross). In early July of 2010, the situation looked grim. Six games behind the Braves, barely over .500. But then they got a little hot, bought Oswalt, the Lidge of 2008 suddenly returned and then they got very hot until they faced the Giants in the NLCS.
