Neris gets the job done and ends up with 3 strikeouts. But it never seems easy.

Velasquez with another solid start and the bullpen gets 3.1 scoreless innings giving up only one hit (off Neris in the 9th) plus the HBP and the two walks from Alvarado in the 8th. Brogdon gets the win.

Offense used the four walks and back to back doubles in the top of the 7th to get all five runs. Harper 2 for 2 with 3 walks tonight. Hoskins 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs.

A solid win and great start to the weekend series with the Blue Jays.

Maybe Bohm can make a run at Jim Rice’s single season record of 36 GiDPs, set in 1984.

I went to 19 games at Fenway in 1985 that Rice played in. He grounded into 9 DPs in those 19 games.

I suspect before the season ends that Alvarado might actually kill LSP with the walks. Certainly a few heart attacks and strokes.

Don’t know if you drink my friend, but you might want to just get a bottle next to you when he starts warming. I have a feeling every appearance might be like this. Good news is it is really hard to hit his stuff, bad news is that you might not need to.

I have survived about 70 seasons of Phillies' baseball. Alvarado really doesn't come close to the disasters I have lived through.

I feel good about this season, but then I always try to be optimistic. Sometimes they come through for us.
