Nobody wants Austin Davis pitching in the 4th inning of a close game. That's not on Gabe, that's on Nola, and on injuries. Nearly everyone's pitching tonight if it stays this close.
We should be rooting for Davis to improve, he did okay for a while last year, they chose him over Pazos on the 40, and Alvarez hasn't been great.
And it's actually still okay to develop players in a major league game in May. Even if they lose a couple for you in the first half they might win a couple back in September.
