Well, they can certainly take their time ramping Walker up. After that, they end up in the same situation they were last year, where they wound up going with a six-man rotation or have to demote one guy to long man. Lorenzen made it easy for Sanchez to beat him out last year but Walker's not going to be a $17 million relief pitcher (nor does he seem to be suited to that role based on last year).
But, the minute we worry about something like this someone probably gets hurt and it won't matter, so just let it play out.
