Alvarado only struck out 2, he is slipping.

Two years ago he walked 47 in 55 innings. He hasn't walked anyone this year

Another solid win with great pitching. Win for Nola and another save for Alvarado. Great start for the raod trip and the Phillies go abov .500 for the first time this year.

Big home run from Schwarber and good hitting from the 8 and 9 slots in the order. Sosa with two doubles and two runs scored out of the 8th spot. Pache and Marsh with RBIs out of the 9th slot.

A good night in Houston.

It wasn't the World Series, but the Phillies enjoyed being back at Minute Maid Park.

Castellanos has the defensive play of the game, but Bohm also made a nice play in the fifth to throw Abreu out at home on the infield grounder to first.

Man it seems a lot harder to do as a relief pitcher with that kind of stuff (Wagner too). But a lot more impressive as a starter.

My god Cliff Lee was good

My god Jose Alvarado this year is good too. Think about how much his stuff moves and how difficult it is to control it sometimes even under the best of circumstances. He will walk players eventually (this is really a freaky streak given the way he pitches is designed to get hitters out on pitches that move out of the strike zone), but I think many of us thought originally that if he could get his walks under control (like under 3 per 9) he could be an All Star.

And lets give our coaches some credit for Alvarado. Remember hes from the much heralded Rays organization which seems to be able to fix everyone.. and in his last 2 years with the Rays he walked 33 in 39 innings.
