Had 'em all the way, Harry!

Two or three of our most hated 2025 players had a good night.

Yeah, but Realmuto was out by a mile. The Cubs didn't need much time to react.

Not sure what is most heartening:
-Phillies winning a tough extra inning rubber match against a good opponent
‐Nola delivering a great start
-Romano locking a game down fairly convincingly

But I will gladly take all of the above!

Held the highest scoring offense in MLB to one run in 10 innings including the ghost runner inning. Pretty, pretty good.

A much needed win. Phillies win the series in Chicago after losing the first. Should make the trip home happier.

Great pitching. Nola had by far his best start of the season. The two out pop up into right center should have ended the inning. The following double was well hit and gave the Cubs a run and an early lead. Nola came back to pitch five more scoreless innings. The bullpen pitched three scoreless, hitless, walkless 1-2-3 innings. The relievers they have to have pitching well, Kerkering, Alvarado, and Romani, each contributing one of those innings. Overall, the Cubs had one run on three hits and walked only once. Fine pitching.

Nola looked better, his command was better, and his FB was 90-92, t93, best of the season.
His four seamer slowly declined before this season, 92.8, 92.7, 92.5, same with the 2 seamer, 92.2, 91.8, 91.5.
So while he seems to be rounding into form, that trend will probably continue
And that means he has to have near perfect command.

Stocker's observation about Rojas' bunt was that the Cubs were playing a bunt defense, and Rojas squared very early which gave the corner IFs the opportunity to move in. If he'd squared later, the defenders would have had less time to react.

Valid point by Stocker, but not the reason Rojas could not get the bunt down. His technique is poor even after supposed years of practice. It hurt us in that inning and should impact his ability to play IMO.

A small part of me wonders how much the wind was a factor in keeeping those fly balls in the park helping Nola eat. Al.
