My guess is 9 runs and 16 hits might end up as season highs for the Marlins. We really need to call Kimbrell, we need more bullpen help

Miami had 10 runs & 18 hits vs. the Phils on 4/13 (Eflin & Nicasio gave up most of the damage). The Marlins also had 9 runs (only 11 hits) vs. the Nationals on 4/20, against Scherzer, if all people.

Hernandez is really playing poorly at second base. At least it's a win. I spent the whole game anxious about Segura's condition.

I don't want to be too critical of a win, but really, this was another one I could see slipping away when down to the final out of the game.

Tonight, we had offense but the pitching was shaky. Arrieta had 5 solid innings and then lost it as his pitch count went into the nineties. All four of the relievers were not sharp tonight.

I cannot help feeling the team should be doing better but with the Nationals, Mets, and Braves all losing tonight, the Phillies lead goes to 1.5 games over the second place Mets, 2.5 over the Braves, and 3.0 over the Nationals. At 15-12, the Phillies are the only NL East team over .500.

Funny, 15-12 projects to 90 wins which is exactly (or better) than pre-season expectations.

I listened to this whole game on the radio. They said Alvarez gave up 3 home runs all of last season, he has more than that already (but not today). I wouldn't read too much into today though. Mop-up guys sometimes drop the mop. They don't need Kimbrel, they need Robertson and Hunter (if Hunter is out for the year they will certainly have to do something).

Take away the events that forced him into the game and that's just a normal Neris save isn't it?

Hernandez has been absolutely dreadful in the field this year.

Yes, Neris did get the save and it is not all that unusual for a closer to come in and allow some runners and then get the save.

Both Alvarez and Pazos had numbers in recent years that suggested they could be decent relievers for the Phillies this season. Pazos never showed much since joining the organization and is now gone but I hope Alvarez can settle in and be effective for the remainder of the season.
