That was an entire game when it felt like they were not even close to scoring. Body language in the cold weather from the players not that great.
I only read the play-by-play here but curious how Kepler doesn't score from 1B on a two-out dourble.
This move seems dumb. Rojas is hitting better this year and could have been the tying run, with his speed that could be helpful
The radio broadcasters noted that Keller as a severe platoon split; LHB have an OPS over 1.000 while RHB are under .400. However, that's just for this year--9.1 innings--and two straight RHBs had just reached off Keller. Keller's career platoon splits are minimal. So I agree with you.
Waltham held him up. At that point, with this club, he should have been sent. Maybe the Cubs make the right throws but maybe not. Be aggressive and put pressure on the opponents.
There is something off with this team. The pitching really isn’t that bad. The hitting leaves a lot to be desired as does the running on the bases Today the Cubs played baseball and the Phillies just watched. The weather dictated that it was a game to play small ball and the Cubs did that. The Phillies just played a disinterested game and lost.
That’s on Thomson. He needs to shake things up on the field and perhaps in the club house. Yanking Rojas for Stevenson accomplished what? Mess with Rojas’ confidence? Sosa was a hot hitter and hasn’t seen the field while Turner catches throws from the OF and fails to relay them in to make plays. The players need to do better but do does the manager.
