I have been a Phillies' phan far too long to not be nervous all the time.

Ortiz could have gotten the final K sooner but didn't get the call on a pitch on the strike zone edge. Regardless, he gets the K to end the game and hang up the scoreless inning. Ruben Amaro, Jr., commented that the combined exit velocity of the Rockies' two hits in the ninth was 100.9 mph. I don't think they had a hard hit all game.

Good win. Wheeler with a solid start and 3 scoreless innings from the bullpen.
Phillies take the series, 3 games to one. Record now 11-12 going into the off-day Monday.

Back-to-back quality starts from our aces. Inching back to .500.

They are winning the ones they should. Third straight series win (plus a road split) after the poor opening road trip and the Marlins series loss. But now we'll really see what they've got: Seattle for three, 3 at Houston, 3 at Dodgers. And then home for Boston and Toronto, at which point the cavarly might be here.

Two suggestions. In the next off-season, form a “ramp-up” committee of coaches, medical personnel—anyone who can explain why almost all of our most important pitchers weren’t ready for the start of the season (including minor leaguers). Second, a hypnotist to convince Schwarber it’s June.

I'm sure there's a data set on this but I think the obvious issue is the workload and shortened off-season that comes from being in the World Series. They both had their issues in the Series itself too (and Suarez was shoehorned into relief). And the best relievers were overworked (and in Soto's case, while a newcomer, he didn't have a real spring training).

Things really are going well at the moment - starters are better, relievers very good, bats waking up. Only 2 1/2 out of division. It was as high as 6 not long ago.

They've weathered the worst.
Sanchez back, Ranger a couple weeks away, Nelson on a rehab assignment, Soto fixed, Kimbrel fixed, SD fixed.
So the pitching is looking up with Strahm, Falter and Walker filling out the back of the rotation.

Warning sign are unsustainable BABIP, Marsh .500, Stott .419, Castellanos .424, Sosa .423.
And some bad BB/K ratios: Stott 3%/21%, Sosa 2.3%/31.8%, Realmuto 3.7%/29.3%

Biggest disappointment is the bench of Clemons, Caves and Harrison.
But getting Harper and Hall back in a month or so will fix that.
