A good win to earn a split of this four game series with SF. Sanchez with 7 innings pitched earns the win. Kerkering and Alvarado finish it off. Both teams with six hits, but the Phillies collected six walks, including two to start the bottom of the 8th. This allowed them to add a run without a hit in the inning. Phillies’ pitchers only walked one. Alvarado went after the Giants in the ninth and didn’t fall behind hitters or run multiple full counts. Sure, he gave up a home run, but he had a cushion and it didn’t hurt. The offense struck early and scored enough to win this one in the first inning.
