Most agreed going into this season, Bohm and Stott needed to play regularly. Maybe today’s lineup illustrates why the Phillies seem to have so much trouble developing home grown talent. I certainly don’t have the answer but I do worry that two young prospects are spending too much time on the bench.

Like many teams, the Phillies want their cake and to eat it too.

They want to develop young talent, but, simultaneously, field a playoff caliber team and win enough games to get there i.e. make as much money as possible.

When that inevitable conflict causes trouble, development is cast aside for the sake of using veterans to try to "stay competitive".

We see it with Bohm & Stott, but, as we all know, the Phillies history is littered with similar sagas.
