Like many teams, the Phillies want their cake and to eat it too.
They want to develop young talent, but, simultaneously, field a playoff caliber team and win enough games to get there i.e. make as much money as possible.
When that inevitable conflict causes trouble, development is cast aside for the sake of using veterans to try to "stay competitive".
We see it with Bohm & Stott, but, as we all know, the Phillies history is littered with similar sagas.
