Obviously Kingery can't maintain this pace, but it was clear last season he was over his head and should have started the year in AAA. Fortunately, he seems to have recovered his minor league stroke.
He has a quick bat, and is no longer taking strikes - I think he just didn't understand what a "patient" approach entailed last season - it doesn't mean take pitches for the sake of taking pitches - but only swing at the pitch you want to hit, not the pitch the pitcher wants you to try and hit.
Now he has to understand once he shows he'll pound first pitch strikes that pitches will start to nibble to start the count, and he has to adjust by laying off pitches that aren't in the K-zone, get ahead of the count and force the pitcher to walk him or give him something good to hit.
All part of the mental game of hitting.
