I was kind of hoping for Pivetta, Alvarez certainly made it interesting.

Alvarez, of course, can't be sent down w/o waivers. But I certainly believe Ramos can come back and contribute. He has before.

You need to get a win when the game goes 14 innings. Glad to see Jean and Cesar get their first homers of the season. All 8 starters are on the board now.

Alvarez, of course, can't be sent down w/o waivers.

I'm not at all sure he'd get claimed. $1.9 million this year, last arb year this winter, and he's been unimpressive (notwithstanding he was more-or-less OK today - two balls hit relatively well, one for a single, one that Cesar was able to dive and stop... and then a chopper turned into a DP by Segura).

He's probably about as valuable as Luis Garcia (the guy we traded, not the prospect) - which is to say, not particularly.

I don't think they need wholesale changes in the bullpen. Pazos is the only one at LHV that might help the team and he is not really that much better to take a chance on losing Alvarez at this point. I think they might groom De Los Santos for a 2-inning role in place of Nicasio, but they probably give Nicasio another month to figure things out. And De Los Santos needs to be stretched out to start also.

No easy solutions. Standing pat may be the right short term call.

Garcia was lights out for a few months, a true fireman (1 inherited runner scored in 18 appearances or something). And then not so much. I do think they will eventually have to ditch Alvarez or Nicasio but not until Hunter is back.

Certainly a good win and another series win. Important going into the series with the Mets to leave Miami on a positive note.

Alvarez had an ERA of 2.71 and a WHIP of 1.16 last season in 76 games with LAA. In the previous 3 seasons, he appeared in 64 games each season and had an ERA under 4 in all 3 of those season. While those numbers don't tell the full story on him, they suggest a pretty decent reliever over the past four seasons. There is no doubt that he has been pretty bad so far this season, but there is reason to hope that he will regress toward the numbers of the past four seasons over the remainder of this year.

While I think Kingery had a pretty weak at bat in his last time to the plate, he certainly is showing signs of late of what we expected to see last season.

The pitching today was great. One run and five hits over 14 innings. Phillies out hit Marlins by a lot but struggled to score. Good to finally break through and wrap up the win.

De Los Santos seems to have taken a step up, and he and Eickhoff are the insurance policies for the SP.
