I'm sorry but the team is becoming more difficult to watch. So far we've played five series. One against a very good Dodgers team. Two against clear below average teams in the Rockies and Nationals. Two more against normally challenging teams the Braves and Cardinals. We got lucky versus the Dodgers again, and haven't looked very good versus the other four. Sure I want the Phillies to win, look good and play competitive baseball. I've been doing it since 1950!! Honest. In my mind the team is just too old, its' young players have not developed as hoped, and promising minor leaguers, except Andrew Painter are at least 12 to 24 months away from starting roles. We are not even one or two (Ruth & Gehrig) players away. We are probably two major league OFs, one 3B, and some Relief Pitching away. And our core of veteran pitching and starting stars (6 or 7 players) are on the south side of their careers and showing it. A few deals at the trading dead line probably would not be enough to change this season's outcome to more than one and done in the playoffs. We could go for another big time contract but that will only slow the down trend, not eliminate it.
