Too many empty ABs for the offense, Nola stunk up the joint and the pen poured gasoline on the fire.

A team effort today.

Both Damon Jones and Connor Brogdon were mediocre today. Brogdon really needs that extra 2-3 mph he had last year and Jones' command really needs to be good with his fairly average stuff.

Guessing Jones goes down for Norwood tomorrow.

Jean Segura said he thinks he could play as early as tomorrow after getting his on the left forearm by a pitch this afternoon. He left the game because he said he lost feeling in the arm.

Whelp, they thought they were out of this game and were trying to preserve the arms that mattered.
Brogdon needs to build his arm strength in AAA, where he would have been if not for injuries and Norwood's absence.
Jones just lacks any sort of command of his slider.
Falter was a disappointment, 90 MPH out of the pen does not bode well, Irvin is his ceiling.

yes, I thought that Falter was a decent amount faster common up through the ranks. Yes? No? if so, what happened?

He has generally been 90-91 though he has touched 94 in the past. The hope has always been that with his size he would pick up some velocity as he filled out. He has picked up a little, but most of his effectiveness comes from deception in his delivery and that still is effective.

I am less concerned with Falter than Jones. A 2-inning reliever backing up a right-handed starter might be his long term role.
