Nice, solid game. We should have had a few more runs, but got unlucky here and there. Keep it up!

A solid start to the season. Great to win in extra innings on opening day.

I was disappointed Nola didn't get a win today. He had a very solid start and was within one strike of pitching seven shutout innings. He tried to get Sandoval on the fast ball on the 0-2 count, but didn't fool him. Turned out to be more like a home run derby set up pitch, a fastball on the inside of the strike zone.

I didn't like Alvarado starting off the 8th with a 4 pitch walk and later giving a HBP on an 0-2 count, but he got the Ks to get out of the inning without the Braves scoring. Clearly, he has great stuff. The bullpen holding the Braves to no runs on one hit over the last 3.1 innings was key to allowing the Phillies to get the walk off win in the tenth. Big play from Quinn and JT to end the top of the tenth with the out at home.

Everyone can enjoy the day off tomorrow after this good start to the season. Feels good to win the first one.

Alvarado is going to be a ride, but that stuff probably erases more mistakes than Hector's.

Really the whole night shows you just how fine the line is for a relief pitcher. Last year Brogdon (or whoever) doesn't get that out at the plate and the Alvarado inning would have ended with a grand slam.

Anyone who has Played & Pitched Baseball knows that, as much as you warm up in the pen, the Cold Weather & Wind is still going to affect you & you get stiff, no matter what. When the warm weather comes, then we will know a lot more about this Bull[pen, but for now, they get a pass with this weather.

I was there! Yes, it was cold but I wore layers and that got me through.

A nice win. Phillies did leave some men on base and the upheld call on the phantom tag on Harper was mystifying. Bummer that Nola didn't get the win because he really was terrific. The bullpen was terrific too though even though Alvarado was something of an adventure.

My friend and I ran into Andy McPhail on the way out. We didn't talk much but he was nice to us.

I would feel bad for Nola if a reliever had given up the Sandoval HR, and sure, he deserved more offense, but it's not like it was a hard-luck no decision.

I wonder if MacPhail is going to get a golden parachute/advisor deal, or just go away next season. It's the Phillies, so probably the former.

Yeah, but Klentak, Rollins and Schmidt also have titles under Middleton's department too.

Ryan's title was actually considered a promotion, he'd been an actual scout, and was maybe even going to retire.

The only thing stopping Amaro from coming back is he's probably better off staying in broadcasting!

For sure. And they both do TV too. And would be at spring training in a normal year. Just interesting they are advisors to the President whereas Bowa (and Gillick, Ryan and Manuel) are advisors to the GM.

One of the stories mentioned what Klentak was doing. I think he was a little more involved when Rice was in charge, and I'm sure there were transitional conversations too. They very deliberately moved him from the baseball ops section to the President section. Who knows what MacPhail is really even doing, Dave Buck seems to be running the show business-wise
